Introducing our new house Champagne: Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale
In February 2018, The Petersham were on the lookout for a brand new house Champagne to call our own and present proudly to our guests.
Taking on the huge and exciting responsibility of seeking the appropriate Champagne house for the company, Managing Director of The Petersham, Greville Dare was joined by Nick Hillman of Wineservice, Wine Supplier to
The Petersham, on a trip to the beautiful Champagne region of France.
Of the 19,000 growers in the area, the pair made the decision to visit three specifically selected private Champagne houses. As we are immensely proud of our stable long-standing relationship with Joseph Perrier Champagne, having celebrated our twenty-five-year partnership last year, a visit to their Champagne house was unquestionably top of the list.
Greville Dare and Nick Hillman were both impressed with the ongoing family-run nature of the Champagne house, and much like The Petersham believes this plays a crucial role in the production of a unique and premium product. What’s more, Joseph Perrier Champagne has always been a customer favourite, well stocked in our working wine cellars and ultimately the elegant, fresh and fruity taste of the product was the clear favourite amongst staff at our house Champagne tasting.
Therefore it is with great pleasure to announce our new house Champagne as Champagne Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale, which can be purchased in The Petersham Restaurant at £12.75 a glass or £62.00 a bottle.
Martin Gamman M.W., UK Director for Joseph Perrier Champagne, says: “The House’s expertise and ‘savoir-faire’ has been passed down and refined through five generations. With family-values also at its heart, we are proud to work with The Petersham Restaurant, whose discerning guests appreciate quality and heritage.”
Our new Champagne Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale bottles are specially engraved with ‘The Petersham’ and the hotel’s unique logo in the French city of Reims. This is exclusive only to The Petersham in the UK and is a result of the special relationship and personal connection between Nick Hillman, Greville Dare and Jean-Claude and Benjamin Fourmon, the father and son owners of Joseph Perrier Champagne.
On Friday 22nd June 2018, we were thrilled to officially launch with an exciting ceremonial ‘sabrage’ opening of the first bottle of Champagne Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale by Greville Dare, using a sword in possession of
Nick Hillman’s family. Luckily, Greville Dare picked up the technique with some ease!
We look forward to progressing the extension of our close relationship with Joseph Perrier Champagne and would like to welcome our guests to visit us in The Petersham Restaurant to sample our delicious new house Champagne which we are so very proud of.
