Introducing Royal Afternoon Tea
This Spring and Summer introduces a whole host of Royal events coming to London, Berkshire and Surrey, including:
- RHS Chelsea Flower Show, 23 – 27th May, Chelsea, London
- The Queen’s Birthday Parade, 17th June, Horse Guards Parade, London
- Royal Ascot, 20th – 24th June, Ascot, Berkshire
- Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, 4th – 9th July, Hampton Court, Surrey
In celebration of such notable events, we are inviting guests to join us for a very special ‘royal’ themed afternoon tea at The Petersham Restaurant. This will include a delightful selection of themed cakes and pastries, as well as the usual classics of afternoon tea, such as our delicious sandwiches and scones.

For those that wish to enjoy a glass of Champagne with their afternoon tea, we will be offering Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale Brut Champagne NV by the glass. For generations, this Champagne has been a favourite of the Royal family, in particular, The Prince of Wales, Queen Victoria and Edward VII.
A written letter and its typed translation addressed to St James’s Palace below extends proof of the Royal family’s link with Joseph Perrier champagne back in the late 1800s. Rather interestingly, the reference to 2 ½ per percent confirms that champagne back then was drunk sweeter than it is now, and suggests that perhaps a series of different dosage levels were offered.
