Real Wedding: Louise & Jack
On a beautiful sunny day in July after a 5 year engagement, Louise and Jack tied the knot with an intimate wedding ceremony and reception at The Petersham. Here they share with us their planning process and the highlights of their special day.
Q. How did you first meet?
We met on a boat in the middle of the Red Sea on a Scuba Diving Holiday. We hit it off right away and hoped very much that we could become dive buddies and perhaps more!
Q. Why did you choose The Petersham as your venue?
We loved the idea of saying our vows in front of the spectacular views over Petersham Meadows and the River Thames. The Petersham specialises in intimate weddings which was just what we wanted – the ceremony ‘River Room’ is beautiful and there was a grand dining room for the Wedding Breakfast. We were very impressed by the level of detail and care given by Terence and his team at The Petersham.
All of our guests were able to stay at the Petersham overnight afterwards so we were able to have a fun day celebrating and all enjoy watching the sun set over the Thames with another glass of Champagne.
Q. Did you have a theme or particular colour scheme?
The theme for the day was baby blue in honour of our baby son, Sydney. Sarah at All About Flowers really understood our theme and suggested the Vendella roses as my dress was a warmer colour than usual ivory. She even made a tiny buttonhole for Sydney.
Q. What music did you walk down the aisle to?
We chose Etta James At Last when all three of us walked down the aisle together – there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Q. What was it like after the ceremony?
Our photographer Nicola took us to Petersham Meadows and the Thames path for some photographs which are amongst our favourites. It was nice to have those moments away from the party to enjoy together and we were congratulated by all the people walking along the river!
Q. Did you have any entertainment?
We had a Champagne and Canape reception with a difference! Our wedding was on the day of the World Cup Quarter Final with England playing Sweden. We decided to embrace the world cup fever and The Petersham kindly set up a big screen for our guests to watch the match. This certainly kept our guests happy and we were so lucky that England won!
Q. Were there any stand out memories on your day?
We will certainly remember the World Cup match and were glad that we included it so that guests weren’t sneaking out to check the score on their phones! But, walking down the aisle together was very special and we will remember it for a very long time.
